**Without your information we could not do our work, thanks a lot for your time! The survey will take between 10 and 50 minutes, depending on how complex your monitoring project is set up.**

For more information ask Megan (m.barnes4@uq.edu.au), who is happy to have a chat, or check out the project website.

**How to take this survey: short instructions**

The survey is structured in different sections. We will ask some screening questions to direct you to a version of the survey that fits your project design best, to minimise the time you have to spend.

**
We will ask 45 short questions about: **

1) General project information such as: your contact information, project duration, design of the project, location of the monitoring sites

2) Specific information pertaining to:

**You can save your entries and resume later if you want (save and resume button on bottom of each page).**

**Privacy / confidentiality**

**We will ask detailed questions about species, sampling design & methods, analytical approach (purpose of project), and location. We won't ask for your collected data itself.
**

Any **personal information **collected, such as names and emails is **only **for us to be able to contact you to clarify anything you have entered. Your privacy will be respected and your personal information will not be used for any other purpose, it will not be passed on to others, and it will be kept in a secure location. **All other information you give us, is only used internally for the development of our framework. **We will ask you at the end of the survey if you have any interest to publish your information through EHP or other websites, an option that we could provide through various channels if you are interested to make information about your project more publicly available.

You can withdraw from this survey at any time.

**Project design **

The order of the sections will depend on your input to the screening questions below. We are **interested in details of locations, methods and species that concern terrestrial, non-avian fauna!**

**6) Project area:** Please do NOT leave this field blank!

**Definition:**areas that includes all monitoring activities. Example: Simpson Desert or Jarrah State Forest

Name of region / forest / etc

**Example same methods: **visual survey and cage traps are used for possums and wombats at Jarrah Forest and Venus Bay

**Example different methods:** a) visual surveys and cage traps are used for possums, and camera traps are used for wombats, both at Jarrah Forest and Venus Bay

b) visual surveys and cage traps are used for possums and wombats at Jarrah Forest, and camera traps are used for wombats Venus Bay

**Example same species: **possums and wombats are monitored both at Jarrah Forest and Venus Bay

**Example different species:** possums and rock wallabies are monitored at Jarrah Forest and wombats are monitored at Venus Bay

To evaluate the coverage of monitoring projects across regions, threats and species occurrence across Australia, we require **spatial information** of your survey sites, together with the **name of the sites**.

Please help us with **either**

File uploads may not work on some mobile devices.

**C) **** Draw on a map and send us a shapefile with one click: **The Mapotron is an interface where you can draw one or more points, lines or polygons to show the areas where you survey and your drawing will be sent as a shapefile to us which we will only use for internal analysis.

**If you can't the mapotron, please use the latest version of google chrome or firefox. It does not work very will with the Internet Explorer. **

**Instructions****: **

**Zoom**to your area (you can zoom automatically to any location or city that you enter by clicking on the magnifying glass in the upper right corner)**1**- Choose from the taskbar at the left if you want to draw
**points, lines or polygons 2** **Draw by clicking on the map**(you can draw multiple and different point, line and polygon features)**Edit or delete**if necessary (buttons with pencil and bin in the taskbar at the left, then click on drawn form to delete or shift / edit. Save your edits by clicking save)**3****Annotate the site-name by right-clicking on the feature**- Your files will get sent to us automatically when you leave the survey

**Taxonomic information **

Please indicate all species that are monitored individually (or taxonomic level at which you monitor) here, or upload an excel table with columns for questions 30) - 41)below.** If you want to enter more than 7 species**, please prepare a table and upload it! You can download a template here

File uploads may not work on some mobile devices.

**Detection success**

We need your estimation of the number of individuals of this species that are usually caught with this method per field trip.

enter value in % (less than 50% means that you are more certain to be wrong than right)

**Standard deviation, coefficient of variation and mean population size**

Please answer the following questions only if you are confident to do so.

Standard deviation measures the amount of variation or dispersion from average. The coefficient of variation for the population is the *standard deviation* divided by the *mean population size*.
